JACKSON—Gov. Phil Bryant today issued a Writ of Election setting Nov. 6, 2012, as the date for the election in DeSoto and Marshall County to fill the vacancy in District 52 of the Mississippi House of Representatives.
The date coincides with the Nov. 6 general election and the Senate District 19 election.
“The House District 52 election will be held concurrently with the Senate District 19 election and the general election on Nov. 6,” Gov. Bryant said. “Voters will avoid the burden of going to the polls multiple times and will save the cost of a special election.”
The qualifying deadline for candidates is Oct. 8.
Rep. Tommy L. Woods resigned the House seat for District 52 effective July 30.
