JACKSON – Gov. Phil Bryant today issued a Writ of Election setting April 3, 2012, as the date for a special election for the office of superintendent of education for Noxubee County. Bryant issued the writ in accordance with state law and at the request of the Circuit Court of Noxubee County.
By court order, the Circuit Court of Noxubee County declared the necessity of a special election. The court determined that absentee ballots cast in Noxubee County’s Aug. 2, 2011 Democratic primary election in the contest for superintendent of education were not properly processed.
Because no opposing parties put forth a candidate, the Democratic primary served as the election for the office of superintendent of education.
